On Saturday 30 August 2025, the Deans Marsh community came together for a truly memorable evening of music, connection, and local talent at a revived Music @ The Marsh.
From the very first notes played by David Rubin, the hall filled with warmth and anticipation. Andrew Stewart took the role of MC, welcoming everyone and introducing a wonderful lineup of performers.
Across the evening, the audience was treated to a rich variety of music — from David Rubin’s collaboration with Mike Robinson Koss on harmonica, to the soulful performances of Andrew Stuart with James McLennan, and the harmonies of Kath Leeson, Jo Zdybel, and friends. Noah Schmidt brought fresh energy and Noah Fagan shared an incredible special and powerful original on piano, before the crowd was taken on a journey through the History of Music in the Marsh with Mandy Baker, Mike Robinson Koss, and Mark Fagan.
One of the highlights was new local talent Melody Moon, whose performance was delightful and angelic. After a delicious supper, thanks to Belinda McKenzie and Jill Stewart on the Tea & Coffees and supper, the night concluded with a moving set from iconic storyteller and long time friend of the Marsh and Music @ the Marsh events, Dave Steel.
Reflecting on the event, MC Andrew Stewart summed it up perfectly:
“Music is such fun and a wonderful connector. You could sense that everyone enjoyed the evening — I caught up with people I hadn’t seen for a long time. It was great to have young newcomers like David and James involved with such style and grace, and to discover talent like Melody Moon. Well done Noah for being a key driver, organiser and wonderful talent.”
A heartfelt thank you goes to Noah Fagan, who led the working group of artists and volunteers and all their combined work that brought this fantastic night together. Thanks also to all who contributed by coming along to share in the music & the fun!
And by the sounds of it, the musicians can't wait to do it all again in December! So we look forward to seeing you then!
